I found out about Steve from a mutual
acquaintance. After two minutes on the phone with him I felt
like I’d known him for years. “First and foremost, I’m a
relationship guy.” Steve says. “I feel like I’ve been very
fortunate in that all along I’ve worked with great people. I
think the key to success in so many ways is surrounding
yourself with people that help you grow, people that open up
doors, and people that believe in you.”
“I’ve had really great, I’d guess you would call them
bosses, but most of the time it doesn’t feel like a boss,”
Steve explains, “It feels like someone I’m working with and
that’s a really strong part of being successful, having the
support to be free to do what I need to do to get work
done.”
Steve admits to being persistent, “I’m always trying to push
the envelope.” And he recognizes that he has perfectionist
tendencies, “But in an unrehearsed kind of way, I don’t have
a particular plan in mind most of the time.”
Steve’s grown up with the industry growing up and most of
the jobs he’s had weren’t listed when he came in, they were
something that he created or that were created and that he
came into. “That’s the thing that’s so great about the
technology industry, it changes so rapidly that you have new
opportunities all the time to try out something that you
haven’t done before and who knows, a year from now it’s
going to be a completely different landscape and that’s
exciting rather than scary.”
