While
she was the Editor of Chocolatier Magazine, Joan received a
number of products each day that people wanted her to review
and taste, two of the more memorable standouts were
chocolate garlic truffles from Gilroy, CA, the garlic
capital of the world and Chudge, which was like a big block
of cheddar cheese fudge. “It’s just funny what people came
up with and it just absolutely blew my mind, but I tasted
every single one that awaited me at my desk each morning.”
Joan says that her mission in life is, “To educate as
many people as possible to enjoy the pleasure of chocolate.”
So when she’s not developing brand and product concepts,
conducting educational seminars for professional chefs and
sales forces, or giving state of the industry speeches to
top-level industry management types; she participates in
chocolate tasting parties for fundraisers, alumni groups,
charities and even individuals.
